The Seed Internships program for summer 2025 which includes professional development sessions, runs from June 13 to August 15, 2025. Internship start and end dates are determined by the intern and employer partner.

While we cannot confirm specific work environments for each internship until the spring, our internships are within Pierce and King Counties, and our internship formats are either remote, hybrid, or in person. Interns should be ready to travel to their internship on-site when necessary, and to attend the weekly in-person professional development sessions.

Interns will work approximately 32-40 hours per week. Each Friday all interns will meet in-person, if possible, for professional development. Learning sessions will cover topics including self-advocacy, communication, public speaking, mentorship, and networking, among others.

Undergrad students who are attending a college or university in the Puget Sound region (Pierce, King or Thurston County) or graduated from a high school in the Puget Sound and are enrolled in college pursuing an undergrad degree are eligible. Applicants must be 18 years old at the time of applying, eligible to work in the U.S. and should have completed the equivalent of one year’s worth of college-level coursework before the internship begins.

• High school students enrolled in running start are not eligible to apply.
• Students who have not obtained a high school diploma or GED are not eligible.
• Students who have already obtained a bachelor’s degree or higher and are pursuing another degree cannot apply.
• We currently do not have employment opportunities for undocumented students.
• Non-U.S. citizens who do not have proper work authorization, permits, or visas. Please work with your college to ensure you have all the necessary documents prepared before interviewing with an employer.

You need only submit one application to be eligible for all posted internship positions. Degrees of Change staff work to match students with the best fit based on their application responses and resume.

That said, we highly encourage students to be thoughtful in their responses to application questions so we can learn as much as possible about your interests and strengths beyond what you can fit on a resume.

For the 2025 cohort, the intern application will open in October and will close on January 14, 2025. The first-round interviews invites will be sent on January 27, 2025. The first-round interviews will take place between February 10 and February 22. Final employer interviews will begin March 4, with offers made after interviews are conducted.

Initial interviews are conducted by Degrees of Change after the application closes on January 14. Employers will invite candidates to final interviews in March.

Students should inquire with their academic advisors and internship managers about earning credits for an internship. Arrangements must typically be made prior to starting the internship.

Interns will be responsible for their own transportation. Limited funds are available for public transportation options.
